Berwick Wall Cross

Northumberland crosses frequently used vines and leaves as design elements. The images used to decorate crosses were selected for their relevant symbolic value. The leaf design on the Berwick Cross symbolizes the Tree of Life. The tree of Life with its roots in the earth and its branches high in the air represents a connection between heaven and earth. The seasonal cycles of the tree links it with growth, death, and rebirth. Most of the designs carved on stone would have originally been painted. Further details of features would have been added in color.

Due to the hand casting and proprietary staining process, each of my plaques is unique. Each cross comes with a hanger embedded in the stone. The cross comes with a descriptive tag describing the original stone, explanation of the design or information on where the cross is located.
